Join Maxfields this summer when we take you to visit some of Britain’s finest and most beautiful gardens.
Excursions
Day OneTravel to London and start your visit at one of the best-known gardens in the world: Hampton Court Palace & Gardens, the former home of flamboyant King Henry VIII. Discover Henry’s enormous Tudor kitchens, get lost (and hopefully found) in the world’s oldest puzzle maze and great vine (submitted to the Guinness World Record Book in 2005), and learn all about your surroundings from the costumed tour guides. Hampton Court Palace is also home to a huge variety of wildlife, including the descendants of Henry VIII’s deer herd.
Day Two
After breakfast, it’s off to Kew Gardens for a full day to explore this world-famous attraction. With more than 130 hectares of landscapes and gardens, tropical glasshouses, giant water lily pools, a treetop walkway and a lake, it’s no wonder that Kew is a firm favourite with groups of all ages. When it’s time for lunch, there’s a choice of four cafés and restaurants.
Day Three
Royal Horticultural Society Wisley is generally regarded as the jewel in the crown of the many RHS gardens around the UK and undoubtedly one of the finest gardens in the world. There are more than 200 acres of gardens offering exquisite examples of innovative design and cultivation techniques. Your visit includes a 60-minute tour, giving you time to learn all about the history of the RHS and Wisley and explore the impressive glasshouse and exotic plants. It’s a fitting end to three days of gardening excellence.
