Excursions
Day OneToday we join the Dartmouth Steam Railway in Paignton for the seven-mile run along the scenic Torbay coast to Kingswear. We cross the River Dart on foot by passenger ferry to Dartmouth where we board a boat for an hour-long circular river cruise with opportunities to see traditional waterside villages, Britannia Royal Naval College, and Greenway House, home to the late Dame Agatha Christie.
Day Two
Kent’s Cavern is one of the most important Stone Age cave sights in Europe. We take a one-hour private tour to discover how a team of Victorian excavators uncovered the story of Britain’s oldest human dwelling. Afterwards, it’s time to visit Bygones, a remarkable collection of hundreds of thousands of items collected by the Cuming family. Spread over three floors the extensive collection includes a full-size Victorian street, railway memorabilia, a WWI trench and food packaging. We end the day with free time to explore the centre of Torquay.
Day Three
