This grand and elegant 3 star hotel on the Isle of Bute was originally constructed in 1892 as a hydrotherapy retreat. Each of the bedrooms are spread over 20 to 30m2 to ensure a comfortable stay and many of the bedrooms offer stunning and uninterrupted views of Rothesay Bay.
Excursions
Day One – Travel to the Isle of Bute
Join your Maxfields coach and travel through stunning Scottish scenery to the coast. We take the short ferry crossing to Rothesay, where we check into the elegant Glenburn Hotel for four nights.
Day Two – Mount Stuart & Rothesay Castle
A day dedicated to the best of Bute. We first visit Mount Stuart House, a breathtaking Victorian Gothic mansion with stunning interiors and gardens. In the afternoon, we explore the unique circular ruins of Rothesay Castle, right in the heart of the town.
Day Three – Dunoon Ferry Excursion
Today, we take a relaxing ferry trip across the Firth of Clyde to the mainland town of Dunoon. Here you’ll have time at leisure to explore the town, stroll the Victorian pier, and enjoy the views back across the water to Bute.
Day Four – At Leisure in Rothesay
Enjoy a full free day to relax and explore at your own pace. You may wish to wander the palm-fringed promenade, visit the famous Victorian toilets, or simply take in the fantastic views from the hotel’s terraced gardens.
Day Five – Travel Home
After a final Scottish breakfast, we depart the hotel and take the ferry back to the mainland, re-joining our coach for the journey home.
